A bad chain repair is obvious — a bulky link, a mismatched clasp, a solder blob that catches the light. Every chain that comes to us is worked by a master jeweler who matches the links, controls the solder, and re-finishes the metal so the repair disappears.
Clasps and findings are matched to your chain's metal and style, not just whatever's in the drawer. And anything with stones or pendants is handled with trained gemologists (HRD Antwerp and ERIJ) on hand.

The clasp is almost always the first thing to go — it takes mechanical stress every single time the chain goes on and comes off, long before any link does. Weak links usually follow, often snapping where the chain caught on clothing or hair. A link that's already broken once is a sign the chain has a weak point nearby, which is why we check the surrounding links rather than just closing the one that snapped. A broken clasp carries its own risk: unlike a broken link, it can mean the piece comes off and is lost the next time it's worn, so it's worth fixing before that happens rather than after.
